Outdoor Wedding Receptions Knowledge Base
The outdoor wedding reception: Any tips, suggestions, ideas, horror stories, success stories etc? I am STILL throwing around ideas for my wedding reception (our families range from being fairly elegant to super casual, which can make it difficult), but I am thinking of sort of an outdoor, picnic/BBQ in a park near a river. Very picturesque. Still, I am worried about cakes melting, bugs, decor, weather, you know the usual. Any tips, suggestions, ideas, horror stories of outdoor weddings, or success stories of outdoor weddings (mostly receptions) that you have heard of?
Does anyone know where I can hold an outdoor wedding reception? I would really like to have an outdoor wedding reception, and the guest list is quite large. I have only found Abbotsford Convent that would permit an outdoor wedding, but they won't allow a marquee. I live in northern melbourne, so I would like to keep it near by. Does anyone know where I can have an outdoor wedding reception, with a marquee???
Does anybody know of a place to have an outdoor wedding reception in Michigan? My fiance and I would really like to have an outdoor wedding reception but are having a really hard time finding a place. Were looking in the Detroit area like, Macomb twp, shelby, troy, bloomfield, rochester, birmingham, chesterfield, anywhere around there. Most of the locations Im finding are too far away like in Grand Rapids. So any info on a place, in or close to, the areas I listed would be a ton of help! Thanks guys =)
outdoor wedding receptions in ma/nh...? I am looking to have a garden, park, or barn wedding ceremony AND reception. It should be able to hold about 100-120 people. Anyone have a place to recommend?
Is there any way to have a beautiful outdoor wedding/reception in the Southern California...? ...area for under $10,000? My bride-to-be and I are looking to have an outdoor wedding/reception in the Los Angeles area. We're looking at outdoor garden and beachfront locations and are finding it difficult to not spend a TON of money...we know weddings are expensive, but is there anyone with real life experience that can offer some advice? We've seen all the online wedding guides, so those probably wouldn't be of much help. THANKS!
Indoor and outdoor wedding reception in Sydney? I was wondering if there are any function/wedding venues in Sydney and surrounds that allow for outdoor functions, with an indoor option 'just in case' . (The nicer both options are, the better.) Thanks in advance.
What are good, inexpensive favors for an outdoor wedding/reception? I'm hoping for something that's worth keeping, not just something they will throw away or eat and have nothing left to show for it. Unfortunately, are budget is going to control what we can use. The wedding is in early April, but it's in Arizona, so it'll be relatively warm. Not formal, but not casual either. We want our guests to be comfortable, no ties or suit coats required, but we'll be dressed up as usual. The wedding is medium sized, about 120 guests or so. I would like something inexpensive, but still be nice and elegant. I want it to BE cheap, but I don't really want it to LOOK cheap. Therein lies my problem. :)
Wedding Receptions Areas around Puget Sound? Can anyone help me with a nice outdoor wedding reception/ceremony area around the Puget Sound Area in Washington? I live in bremerton and love the scenery, but can't find a nice place to get married/celebrate that would include this. Help?!? Please?
Any good ideas for an outdoor wedding reception in July? It will be in a big backyard & we can do whatever we want as far as decorating & such. It will be in the evening so it's not too hot for the guests. Any good ideas as far as decorations, food, setup, etc. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
I need two signature drinks for an outdoor wedding reception. Trying to keep it easy and less expensive!? We have limited space and bar help. Perhaps something with a vodka base? It will be for the end of September and on a farm. Casual but elegant, but on a limited budget. We will already be serving beer, wine and champagne. We have limited space and bar help. Outdoor wedding? We have no date set, yet. We've been engaged for almost a year. We are going to start planning soon and are wondering what are some unique ideas for an outdoor wedding? It will most likely be at a local park that has many pavilions, stone fire places, cabins, lots of woods and it is on a river. The wedding and reception would be at the same place. Any ideas to make it wonderful and unique?? Oh yeah, the weather thing. We are planning to rent a few large tents or canopys. There will be a pavilion also.
Does anyone know of an inexpensive outdoor venue for a wedding reception? I'm getting married in June, and I'm looking for a nice, inexpensive outdoor reception venue in Chicago. There are an expected 150-200 people, so please be mindful when answering. I also have a DJ, and would like to have drinks served, so I would also like any permit information, if needed. Thanks so much in advance for your help.
What are some ways to "dress up" an outdoor wedding? We're having an outdoor wedding/reception that is going to be set up as sort of a laid-back, romantic picnic. For our center pieces we're filling picnic baskets full of wild flowers. What are some other ways we can kind of make things look a little nicer? Also where can we buy and arch like this or what can we do to make a nice one of our own? http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/touchxOFxpinkxO/large_image.jpg
An outdoor wedding reception. How do I dress? I have been invited to go to a wedding in June. The bride and groom are a little on the redneck side and I am not quite sure how I should dress for the reception or even the wedding. Should I bring two different outfits? I need some good classy ideas please.
Outdoor wedding reception, how do I hire bar-staff? I'm having a wedding in my fiances parents backyard. I don't know who I would need to contact to even hire on site bar staff and what I would need to provide them. Also what to take care of legally or if they would take care of that. =S
Where can we have an outdoor wedding and a reception in Southeastern Wisconsin? We're looking for unique places to have a wedding in Southeastern Wisconsin. Probably an outdoor wedding somewhere, although I'd like a backup plan within the same venue if possible. The reception can be at the same place as the wedding or another venue but we're looking for a building with character! A historic building or something along those lines rather than a banquet hall with an ugly pull out wall to separate 2 rooms! We've looked at the Kemper Center in Racine and the Dekoven Center in Kenosha but wanted to make sure we weren't missing any other hidden gems! We're leaning on Racine or Kenosha counties rather than somewhere in Milwaukee.
I'm getting married in October and need some ideas for an outdoor country wedding? I am getting married next October (2009) and need some great ideas for an outdoor country wedding reception menu. Our reception will be classy southern (not cowboy) and I want to know what I should put on the menu. We are going to have iced tea and lemonade (in beautiful jugs) and lots of alcohol of course. Along with the wedding cake we are doing different pies and southern style candies.
Any ideas for an outdoor wedding reception? We are having a destination wedding. When we get back we are having a reception at a local park. The shelter overlooks the river. My colors are hot pink and orange. Any ideas on decor or games for the guests to play? We are catering in bbq for food. The reception will begin at 2PM and last until dark.
Does anyone know of a outdoor wedding ceremony and reception venue in Michigan? I'm looking for an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception service. I would like a beautiful garden or beach venue. I know most beaches are public, so I'm leaning more towards a garden near St. Clair or Macomb counties. I live out of state so it's harder to find good sites. If you know of any gardens, please let me know.
where can I have an outdoor wedding and reception in metro Detroit? I want to get married and have my reception outside. I have looked into some parks but they close early and don't allow liquor (which is a must). I have been trying to avoid golf courses also. I want a pretty scenic view not a view of the green. I live in Novi, MI so I don't want to have to travel too far. Any suggestions on where to get married?
Question for anyone who's held an outdoor wedding/reception...? I'm getting married in March and we're having an outdoor wedding. I'm slightly concerned about how to have the first dance considering we're not indoor with speakers? Wouldn't that be awkward? Like, should someone just use a boombox or something? That seems weird to me. What was your experience and how did you manage the music factor in an outdoor reception?
Troubleshooting outdoor wedding and tented reception? I have my heart set on a outdoor summer wedding with a tented reception but I'm running into some issues. During the ceremony how exactly does the bride hide before the walk down the aisle? I wonder if it would kill the mood to see the bride walking across an open space before reaching the aisle. Also during a tented reception how are foods heated and stored if there is no kitchen facility? Are there any other hurdles I should be aware of when hosting an outdoor wedding?
OUTDOOR WEDDING RECEPTION? Was wondering if anyone knew of any inexpensive outdoor reception sites in San Antonio Tx. My fiance was recently laid off work, so we have the chapel reserved, but are unable to afford a reception venue. (They are so expensive) I have looked into parks in San Antonio and that may be an option. But I was wondering if anyone knew of any other locations that are CHEAP or FREE! OR if anyone had a beautiful outdoor garden or alot of land they would be SO KIND enough to share for a few hours to make my dream come true. I am so hopeful and crossing my fingers. We have a five month old son, and had to use what little savings we had for our wedding to pay our essential bills! Now we are stuck and don't know what to do! The place we rented for our wedding ceremony is BEAUTIFUL and I would hate to make everyone go to a Park afterwards. PLEASE HELP ME!

What do I wear to an outdoor bbq style wedding reception? Every wedding I've been to has been pretty formal, but this wedding is for a young couple that is hosting an outdoor, pig roast, keg o' beer having wedding and I have no idea what to wear. I'm 25 and meeting most of my boyfriend's family for the first time. I don't want to over dress and look like a fool, but I refuse to wear jeans to a wedding. Any links to sites or general idea would be appreciated.
Does anyone know good outdoor wedding reception sites in NEPA (preferably Susquehanna co. Lacka co. or Wayne? I'm planning a summer wedding in Aug of 2010,and I'm looking for an outdoor reception site in NEPA, without catering. I have been searching the net, but all I can find are halls, or reception sites that are further south then i would like. If anyone has any suggestions for Susquehanna County, wayne co, or lackawanna co areas it would be greatly appreciated!!!! Can I wear black to an outdoor wedding? I am attending an outdoor early evening wedding/reception at the end of March. Is it appropriate to wear a black dress? The dress itself is basic but very classy looking and I was planning on wearing some type of black sandal type shoe (no hose). I don't want to look as if I'm attending a funeral but I do love this dress.
Where to have an outdoor wedding ceremony and/or reception on lake in Northern Michigan? My lovely bride to be and I are trying to find a place to have an outdoor wedding in northern Michigan. We live in Traverse City and we'd like something close to this area. Within an hour and a half. The reception doesn't have to be at the same place. The ceremony itself we want outside with a view of the bay or Lake Michigan. I appreciate any thoughts/input. Thank You !!!
Help! I need to find an outdoor wedding site in the Harrisburg PA area that allows alcohol!? BFF is getting married and asked me to help. I am trying to find an outdoor wedding/reception site that allows alcohol on premises. They are doing a handfasting, so it needs to be woodsy, but the reception is going to be an all out party, pig roast, beer and all. I am having one heck of a time finding such a place. Can't be more than 25 miles from Harrisburg, PA and can't be too awful expensive as they are paying for everything themselves. Anyone have any ideas?
List of things needed for an outdoor wedding & reception.....? I need a list of things to get for an outdoor reception. It is going to be in a pavilion by a lake. I just want to make sure I don't forget anything!!! Thanks in advance!!! For the meals, we're going to borrow big roasters from the church to use to put the food in.

Having an outdoor wedding and we really dont know what to get, and ideas? We are having an outdoor wedding and reception in September next year at my future parent-in-laws home. We know that we need tents, the food, music, chairs, tables, decorations, you know the basics. Is there anything that we may need, that you wouldnt think of right away? Or are there any other details that shouldn't be over looked? Oh and any suggestions on colors would be great, we know we want blue (any shade) but any other colors that may look good with it for a September wedding. Thanks
Any suggestions for nice outdoor spaces to host a wedding reception in/around Cleveland Ohio? I would like to find a nice outdoor location to host my wedding reception for about 100 people. Ideally this location would have bathrooms, parking, and a kitchen. I'm getting married in three months and most of my favorite places are booked. Most of the parks I have contacted won't let us remove the picnic tables and put up tents. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I need suggestions for playing music at an outdoor wedding? We wanted to have our wedding reception at our friend's ranch, we do not have any outlets nearby to power the speakers for music. We live in a rural town, so our options for hiring bands is limited. I wanted to play music from my ipod, I just don't know if it is possible to hook up speakers without an outlet. Should I get a generator, or will it be too annoying? Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I appreciate any advice.

Anyone know of a beautiful outdoor wedding or reception site in NW Indiana or SW suburbs of Chicago? I really would love to have an outdoor summer wedding and reception. I've looked into a great private caterer but am having some troube finding a site. I would like it to be very private and intimate. I know Lake Katherine in Palos Hills does it, but I would like to look at more places, even those who may not generally do weddings on a regular basis. Something like a garden or nature preserve set far apart from busy roads or other businesses. THANKS!
Outdoor wedding and reception in Oregon.? So the plan was to have our wedding at a waterfall, however I have been searching and searching and have failed in finding one that meets our criteria. So while that hope is still on the table, I'm starting to view it as not being entirely realistic. The points in the waterfall wedding were a) I LOVE waterfalls and b) not having to pay for a venue, just the possibility of paying for a permit [very cheap]. So does anyone know of a lovely park or place for an outdoor picnic reception in Oregon? A place that we could hold the wedding without having to pay a venue fee. Thanks so much for your help!
