- They play whatever music you request (or your cousin since it's their wedding). Good luck!
- I'm going to play dance,alternative,80's,salsa,oldies,country,a little bit of everything so the guests will have a good time.
- That would depend on what the Bride and Groom requested when they set up the gig with the DJ. I've heard everything from classical ballroom dance music to Mexican Salsa to heavy metal being played at a wedding reception. Your BEST bet is to ask someone involved with the wedding reception planning and find out in advance. Good luck to you!
- Usually music that is familiar to everybody that has a good dance beat. It's all up to the bride/groom though.....so you never know :) have fun!
- The old rule used to be a mix of many kinds of music from many different times so that every guest would hear at least two or three songs that really gave pleasure, and to exclude any songs that might fall into an "I hate that kind of music" category. Sorry if this rains on your parade, but this would probably exclude most modern rap, pop, and alternative. If you can come up with a mix of classic big band, classic 50s rock, classic dance-able country, soft classic R&B, a sprinking of old timey music like ragtime, of world music like raggae and salsa, of party songs by The Andrews Sisters -- in summary, probably no one is going to say "This is my favorite song" but neither will they be saying "I hate this music" while people who truly like to dance will find a wide variety of familiar rhythms. Don't forget to keep the volume low enough for people to have conversations without raising their voices.
- yeah usually pop songs people can fast dance to, and also oldies that the older guests will know and want to dance to. and they'll play slow songs for couples to slow dance to also. I hate DJ's at weddings, my friend had a wedding singer that did nothing but old rat pack standards and it was awesome. there won't be no DJ at my wedding, just strings.
