Weddings Reception Decorations

What do you like to eat at wedding receptions?

My sister is getting married in a few months. For the reception we just want to have some nice desserts. What are some desserts that you like or have seen at a reception before? Easy to make or inexpensive ideas would be appreciated. Thank you so much!

  1. buy little chocolate shot cups and fill them with fruit and pudding :)
  2. Cherry Cheesecake is always a hit at my family weddings, as are pecan peanut butter tarts and rice pudding.
  3. I went to a wedding with a Chocolate Fountain/Fondue with lots of fresh fruits and stuff to dip in it. It was awesome and easy to make!
  4. I like things that taste really indulgent and yummy: cheesecake, brownies, cookies, plain 'ol cake is good too!
  5. Chocolate syrup dipped in fresh fruit (strawberries, cantaloupe, etc)
  6. As a guest, I have never once gone to a wedding expecting a full meal of any kind because that isn't done in my family or their social circles. I accept whatever hospitality the couple chooses to offer. Otherwise you're attending for the wrong reasons. As far as desserts go, you are only limited by your budget and imagination. Speaking from experience at past weddings, please don't make your guests work at the reception because they aren't able to enjoy it like everyone else, even for the simplest dessert reception. Costco has a ton of ideas that are available in bulk and fairly inexpensive. They have cream puffs, cheesecakes, pies, etc in their frozen section. Cookies, fruit trays.
  7. Anything would do for me as long as the host shows his or her hospitality. However, don't include fruits with salad which I love. :)
  8. I like panna cotta w/ fruit, caramel custard, chocolate cookies (you can bake your cookies w/ the shape of the couples initials), gelato, assortied pies(key lime, blueberry, rhubarb), fruit tarts, and of course, cake.
  9. We did a small cake and then a variety of mini desserts as well. Here's a list of the desserts we did. Fudge with and without nuts Peanut butter cookies made in little muffin tins and when done cooking we pushed a chocolate kiss in the middle My mother-in-law made these chocolate balls that were dipped in powdered sugar. Home made caramels bite sized cheesecake with a blueberry tooth-picked into it Then a family friend of mine insisted we needed to have chocolate chip cookies, we said no, since we wanted treats more unique, but she actually showed up to the reception with 100 mini cookies, so we just put them out rather then make a scene. And they actually turned out to be a hit, especially with the kids.
