Help with this centerpiece!?
So this is my centerpiece: http://www.rebeccassilverrose.com/weddings/reception-decorations/calla-lily-centerpiece-LED-light.jpg (with votives and all that around it, etc...) My question: I'm using silk calla lilies, will they end up floating? Is there any way I can have them stay under the water? I'm not sure the stem will be hollow, but if it is, I could probably put something up there right? (obviously so guests couldn't see it though) Or is there another way I could make them sink if they DO indeed end up floating? I'd prefer not to have rocks at the bottom... The clue could actually work, but we're using the reception venues cylinders so that can't happen! :( As long as the tack isn't crazy hard to get off then I don't see why not. I wonder if the water would loosen the tack though... I may have to do some trial and error before hand... but I wouldn't mind some kind of crystal covering it if that's what we HAVE to do to make it work!!

- Could you glue the lily to the bottom? Glue will dry clear and then you don't need to have rocks. Or you could use mini crystals :) Let me find you a link.... Edit - oh, ok, lol. Not glue then!! http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/acrylic-ice-table-scatter-clear-iridescent-100-for-3.99 Here is a link to the crystal things though. I'm not sure if they'd be heavy enough. I'm gonna think on this one :) If they are hollow, yes, you could put something up them. Maybe sand or something similar, that you could pour in. Edit again - ok, I am really struggling with this one...could you get something like white tack http://www.amazon.co.uk/Uhu-White-Tack/dp/B000I6NQDY or something similar, line the bottom and then put something like the crystals on top to hide the tack? Last edit - How about sand/glitter on the bottom to stick the lilys into? Get some in your colour and the glitter will glimmer nicely in the water and dance lights :) http://www.ssww.com/store/product/sku=CO139/cmc=CRS/
- They might float. You can buy museum putty at any arts and craft stores. It's a super sticky putty that you can use to hold down objects and it should work under water. Otherwise, your idea of putting some sort of weight in the stem seems to be the best option.
- It really will be trial and error but I think that they will float a little bit. I like your idea of putting something heavy in the hollow part of the stem. I know you said that you don't want rocks, but river rocks (you can buy a bag of them for really cheap at wal-mart or any other craft store) looks really great. You should just do a test try to see if you won't change your mind. Good luck with your wedding!
- I am using the same idea for our reception. I am using white pebbles and (Sorry english is my second language) the string used on the stick to catch fish. It is see through. I am going to tie it ti the rose and the pebble will keep it from floating. LOL hope I helped.
