What do you think of this centerpiece?

Ah... going crazy with centerpiece ideas... What do you think of this? 2-3 calla lilies in a simple glass vase like this: http://www.rebeccassilverrose.com/weddings/reception-decorations/calla-lily-centerpiece-LED-light.jpg Arond each cylinder there would be 2 glass votives: http://www.dollartree.com/floral-decor/Wholesale-Bulk-Candles-Holders-Votives/3-inch-Round-Glass-Votive-Holder/202c205c205p294369/index.pro We will have a mirror underneath this as well. Should I add anything like a few silk petals around the cylinder/votives? Has anyone used calla lilies like this? Did they wilt or did you have any problems? lol everyone keeps saying they love the first one... there IS only one! haha the votives would just go AROUND the big cylinder. Yes they would be under water... is this okay?

  1. ooooh I like that! are the flowers submerged in water tho? you probably don't need to do that unless there's a chance they would blow over. what you could do is get some shiny jewels at a craft store and scatter those on the mirror around the candles.
  2. I am looking for an idea for my centerpieces as well. I like that it's simple yet elegant. Go for it.
  3. The first one is beautiful! it looks very elegant. Good job! I don't think they should be under water. Just add a little bit of the water to the base and I wouldn't add anything else because it looks gorgeous as it is.
  4. I like the first one. It looks just darling! And with those colors of the lilies they will go perfect with the mirror. But why not white roses?
  5. Very elegant! yes on the mirror and those petals had a touch of class to a nice centerpiece. The beginning look is the impression you want to create and I am sure they will hold up for the time line. Someone else can comment on them wilting or not.
  6. Your center piece sounds almost identical to what I had at my wedding. I had a tall cylinder glass in the center. I dyed the water with food coloring to give it a light blue tint color (blue was part of my colors). I used fake flowers in the water then had two candles on each side of the cylinder. O and we had a floating candle on top of the water above the flowers. Had to make sure the flowers were pushed down well so they didn't catch on fire :) We had a mirror underneath it as well. It was really pretty! This is what mine looked like... http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2948032880102636165THTKSi
  7. It is simple, beautiful a great choice.
  8. I'm doing something very similar. The only difference is that I am going to have a floating candle in the vase and the flowers under the water and candle. Just an idea but it is also great the way it is! My wedding is outdoors at night so I want to add more light. I'm not sure what flower my florist is using but I don't think they are calla lilies. I don't think they will wilt after a few hours of being in the water. Actually I think the water would keep it from wilting. If you are doing it yourself, try it out before the wedding to see how long it will last and what it looks like. Those are pretty flowers though! You can add the silk petals if you want but I don't really think it needs it.
  9. The look is very simple but classy..you should do it! Good luck!
  10. Lovely.Go for it
  11. My cousin did this centerpiece for his wedding and it looked beautiful. My only suggestion would be that you at least include three votives, Ideally four, around the base, using only two leaves two sides of the table with nothing. Adding the third and having them in a triangular pattern will really help the light play off the water and the glass better and then everyone will get the glow effect at the table and adding a fourth would of course increase that as well. My cousin also had those glass stones in his wedding colors scattered around the votives and the base they played off the light much better then flower petals would. Good Luck!!!
  12. I love the centerpiece idea, and I don't think they will wilt - just make sure you don't do them TOO far in advance. Also I think you should have 3 or 4 votives, not just 2. Two might look kinda awkward. Do you have any other colors in your wedding besides white? I think you should have some silk petals in your wedding color surrounding the cylinder. If your other wedding color is something like blue or green you could have colored glitter, sequins or beads on the mirror. I think the idea is really nice, and elegant. Congrats & good luck!!
